In this edition we’ll try to give you some detailed insight regarding some of the most interesting upcoming games, so you can be more informed to place your bets. Let us know how you like this format!
We are just days away from the beginning of the new season, some teams are still celebrating what happened on the last one while some others are still trying to heal from the hits they took. In this article we are going to recap what the end of last season looked like and what we can expect for the new one.
Boca was crowned champion after defeating Tigre in the final. Although not having a great season, Boca ended it in great fashion, their best game of the year so far was the final, where they got after defeating Racing (the favorite to win it all) by penalties. They sure hope to keep improving as they’ll have to face a more challenging season and the harder phases of the Copa Libertadores.
Racing fans were left with a bittersweet sensation after how everything ended. They were the best team of the league phase and were looking to win it all, but didn’t manage to score against Boca and went home empty handed. They just added a big talent with the signing of Emiliano Vecchio so we have high hopes for them next season.
River was undoubtedly the team that had the worst exit of the league, losing 2-1 at home against the much weaker Tigre. For the new season they will want to compete for everything, with the main focus being the Copa Libertadores. The departure of Julian Alvarez will have a huge impact but River’s authorities are working fast to close some big names to reinforce the team.
Looking to the other end of the standings, some of the teams that are promising and worth looking out for are Rosario Central, Independiente, Lanus, and San Lorenzo. As they underperformed big time, they’ll do their best to turn things around to please their fans.
An interesting case to watch will also be the teams that over performed, we’ll see if teams like Tigre, Aldosivi, and Defensa y justicia are capable of maintaining the great level they found in this past tournament.
We hope this article gets you as excited as we are for the upcoming season!
Banfield vs Newell’s Old Boys
Both have been very good teams so far this year, putting in great performances and surprising at a level that few expected. So we can expect this to be a very even match.
Both teams are looking for their best version and have not had much time for this in the short two-week preseason they did, so we will probably see two teams in formation.
The expected result is a draw, although playing at home, Banfield might have a slight advantage.
Patronato vs Velez Sarsfield
Velez has had an irregular first half of the year, with more negative than positive performances, which was not at all up to expectations. For this reason the management has taken the decision to hire a new coach, who arrived at the club less than a week ago, so we do not know very well what to expect from this match.
However, on the other side we have Patronato, who have proved to be the weakest team in the championship, the team that has scored the most goals so far this year, so we can expect a resounding victory for Velez.

Racing Club vs Huracan
Racing has been the revelation team of the league cup, and starts this new tournament with the intention of fighting until the end, especially now that they were eliminated in a surprising way from the Copa Sudamericana.
On the other side we have Huracan, a team that is used to being in the middle of the table, and that apart from some good games has not been able to stand out, in this transfer market they are hoping to bring some reinforcements of hierarchy, although they have not yet advanced in their intention.
Racing is the clear favourite to win by a large number of goals.
Estudiantes vs Gimnasia La Plata
The clasico de la plata is here again! This match will undoubtedly be one of the best of the weekend.
On one side we have Gimnasia, who closed last season showing an amazing level of play and were on the verge of making the playoffs. They finally found a style of play that works for them and with the figure of Brahian Aleman they are carrying it forward.
On the other side we have Estudiantes, one of the best teams in the country today, characterized by a tough defense. They have already qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
It is a difficult match to predict, but we can expect a draw with goals from both teams.
Boca Juniors vs Arsenal de Sarandi
The Copa de la Liga champions are impressing everyone game after game because finally, after several years, they have found a style of playing that is attractive to watch and that gets them the results they want, having a defined starting eleven. Apart from winning the championship, they achieved their second objective, which was to qualify for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
Against them we have a weak Arsenal, who have been one of the teams with the fewest wins so far in 2022, with very veteran players, and without a clear idea of how to play the game. We expect Boca to win in a very dominant manner.
Defensa y Justicia vs River Plate
We all know that River is the best team in the country but nevertheless this match will be very tough, for two main reasons. The first is that more than half of River’s first team squad is out of the country playing friendlies with their respective national teams.
Secondly, Defensa y Justicia is a great team, who have been in the top eight of the league cup, and who were able to play in the league playoffs.
It will be a very tough match in which we can expect any result, but most likely a draw.
Rosario Central vs Lanus
Rosario Central has been the big disappointment of the first half of the year, being one of the most defeated teams of the tournament, when nobody expected this to be the case. To this must be added the departure of Marco Ruben and Emiliano Vecchio from the team, two emblems for the institution that have left.
Lanus has had its ups and downs, advancing from the Copa Sudamericana but never really stood out in terms of performance.
We believe that Lanus will be the better side going into the game, so it is most likely that they will get the win.
Argentinos Juniors vs Aldosivi
Argentinos is playing better and better every day, and has very good players that make the fans and the coaching staff happy, it has been a team that took a long time to develop but it seems that they have finally achieved it.
On the other side we have Aldosivi, a team that has had a great first half of the year, but due to a fight with the management (because they did not want to bring reinforcements to the team) their great coach Martin Palermo has resigned. This may cut short the great momentum that the team was going through but it will be a question of time to find out.
