Superliga Argentina: Week 3
We’re back with week 3 of the Argentina Liga Professional de Football.
Union Santa Fe vs River Plate
The only way to understand what’s happening to River right now is to watch their games. They lost 1-0 against Colon in a game where they had a lot more chances, they deserved a penalty that the VAR didn’t review, and were scored on by a player that was most likely offside.
This being said, River is now desperate for a win, and a not so strong opponent like Union might provide the perfect opportunity, that’s why we expect them to get the victory this time. We could potentially see the return of Milton Casco, Enzo Perez and Matias Suarez this game, but there’s nothing confirmed.
Barracas Central vs Boca Juniors
Boca is on a very positive winning streak, it’s been almost a month since the coach found the starting line-up and the strategy that gives them the results they need, they have just won 5-3 against Tigre in a thrilling match.
This time they face Barracas, one of the weakest teams in the league, which makes us think that we are likely to see a victory for Boca, although it will not be by so much goal difference.
This match will undoubtedly be one of the most attractive of the weekend.

Independiente vs Estudiantes
This game confronts two great teams that have been going through very positive times.
Independiente is leaving aside the political crisis generated by their president Hugo Moyano, and all the economic problems, they have to focus on getting good results. This year, after a reformation of the team, the results have started to improve.
On the other hand, Estudiantes has been one of the most reliable teams so far this year, with a great defence and their star player Mauro Boselli, who is the top scorer of the league. This great form is what has taken them to the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores and is what leads us to think that they are the favourites to win, although a draw would not be strange at all.
Gimnasia La Plata vs Racing Club
Another great match with two of the best teams that the Argentine league has to offer, this is perhaps the most difficult to predict as both teams are in a good momentum.
Racing have been the breakthrough team in the Copa de la Liga, but have just lost their last game and have been knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana, which has affected the team’s motivation.
On the other hand, Gimnasia has won seven of its last nine games, and is having a very high performance from their stars Brahian Aleman and Cristian Tarragona. Perhaps the fact that Gimnasia is playing at home can be an influential factor to take into account, but a draw is the result that best suits these two great teams.
Velez Sarsfield vs Rosario Central
Velez is one of the Argentinian teams that have qualified for the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, and is one of the teams that are expected to achieve the most this year. The expectations are high, but they have not yet found the performance that will give them that security.
On the other hand Rosario Central is the big disappointment of this year, losing two coaches in two months, and their two biggest stars in this transfer market. Nothing good can be expected from this team, which needs to be rebuilt as soon as possible.
For these reasons we expect Velez to take the victory, trying to please their fans as they are playing at home.
